{Celebrity Spotlight}: Miley Cyrus

While this article title from the Huffington Post is clearly borderline insulting to the singer, Miley Cyrus does rock these amazing Ray-Bans.

Miley Cyrus Ray-Bans

I love these frames! I am definitely a fan of the John Lennon-esque frames that many have attempted to pull off (including a successful rendition by Lady Gaga).  Pop culture aside, Cyrus rocks what is now her personal style: a little grudge, a little hipster but all over perfect.  Her chopped locks threw me for a loop when I saw them but I love how she picks a perfect pair of frames to go with her new do.

If you are looking for Miley’s fun hipster Lennon shades by Ray Ban, you can definitely find them at Eyesave.com.  Here’s a closer look:

They come in a variety of different lens and metal colors just in case you want to change up the style a little.  I’d go for a little bit of a darker tint for extra protection. I wonder if they have a polarized version…

And if you’re like me and wear glasses then you can get reading glasses, or “readers” as we like to call them, in a similar style.  You can get them in the sunglasses version or in regular reading glasses style.  While the colors are definitely more limited in the reader style, I am always down for the bolder black that they both come in. And with both of these styles under $20, who can resist?

Love this look! The sunglasses take the cake though. They once again prove that it is nearly impossible for gold metal aviators to go out of style.  I can’t remember a time when these were not worn.  From the airforce to those of us stomping in Airforce Ones, this frame still has dominated.
These from Tom Ford are a newer take on that classic style.

Who doesn’t love the contrasting detail on the arm of the frame.  I personally love this style, especially in this color! It is perfect for everyday wear and for that upcoming winter beach trip.
Good news for those who need reading glasses! Aviator style sunglasses come in readers! These from Able Vision are spectacular.

Able Vision makes the R14948 Bronze Sunreader which are perfect for reading in the bright sunlight. They are made from durable aspheric plastic which makes them perfect just to be thrown in a purse while you are on the go.

I love the wayfarer shape! There are just so many ways you can wear them. They are one of the most versatile shapes.  From reading glasses to sunglasses, most everyone can put on a pair of wayfarers and be completely satisfied. These from Eyesave.com are amazing.  All different brands make wayfarers too! So you don’t have to buy just Ray Bans, although they do make really cool ones like these that fold up! (see below)

Anyway, wayfarers are a great purchase to add to any collection of sunglasses because, if you’re like me and have a million pairs (one for each different outfit :P ), then you are sure to have a pair of wayfarers in your repertoire. I need to get some in bright colors! Like neon pink (see Darren Criss)

How can you not love that face? Well, I love his sunglasses more! But I would definitely get these by Juicy Couture:

They’re definitely a little more girly than Darren’s but perfect for any occasion. And if you don’t really like pink (you know who you are), then you can get them in another color!

{Did You Know?} Sport Sunglasses are so-o useful!

Safety is always important, especially when it comes to your eyes. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Mark Kotsay knows exactly what that means.  He always wears sunglasses during games to protect his eyes from the sun’s harmful rays and also to keep the glare away when looking straight up at the sun trying to catch a baseball.  More specifically, Kotsay has blue eyes making him more susceptible to glare.  The reduced sensitivity to contrast for those who have lighter colored eyes makes it harder for them to differentiate things in bright light.  Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton found that his light colored eyes affects his batting average when he plays in day games in contrast to when he plays in night games.

Sports sunglasses have so many uses because they protect your eyes and provide the maximum glare reduction.  They come in many different designs so you don’t have to keep the more traditional sport wrap-around style. They can be made of plastic or metal; it is all up to you to decide what kind of sport style sunglasses you want.

If you do play baseball or any outdoor sport, it may be best to go with a wrap style or something that is sure to stay put during activity.

This is the NYX Golf Sunglasses-Arrow. These frames are made from lightweight nylon with Bi-Radical lenses to reduce the bubble effect that is usually seen in wrap style sunglasses.

Above is the Smith Optics Parallel. This semi-rimless frame features non-slip nose and temple pads for complete comfort and stability when it comes to active-wear.

This is the Nike Skylon Ace Swift, a semi-rimless frame with rubber nose pads that ventilate making this a perfect style to wear outdoors. The lenses are scratch/impact-resistant which ensures great durability and longevity in terms of wear.

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about those who need reading glasses!!! You too can read outdoors on the beach or out camping, wherever and whenever you please!

These are pretty sweet, right? The bi-focal lenses allow for reading or not (!) - wear them as sunglasses and the bifocals won’t interfere! The wrap frame is perfect for those looking for a traditional sport style frame.

Besides a wrap style frame, sport sunglasses can also come in more fashionable styles with the same protection and glare protection.  Like these:

The 2747/S from Persol is the perfect combination of sport and fashion.  The polarized lenses feature glare protection while simultaneously providing 100% UVA/UVB protection.

Maui Jim is known for their variety of sports sunglasses that feature ultimate protection from the sun as well as glare. Below is the Backyards by Maui Jim that have a super light-weight and durable rimless frame. These frames can be worn in salt water so they are perfect for a beach get-a-way or any boating activity.

For all those light-eye people out there, protect your eyes! They are important!

Check back to Eyesave.com for some sweet UrbanSpecs polarized!!! They provide great protection and even better glare reduction!

With summer here and the sun shining down on us, it seems like a great idea to just sit outside and soak up rays, maybe read a book? I always want to just sit outside when the sun shines: cold drink in hand, shades on, with a good book.

With sunreaders (i.e. reading glasses for reading outside in the sun!), you can sit as long as you want outside and read.  Brilliant, right? I think so! When you already feel blinded by the sun, why make it harder to read? Now you can read by the beach, in/by the pool, on a blanket in Central Park! Anywhere your heart desires!

The first picture above is a pair of the Maui Jim Makaha.  This style features a rimless sport frame which is perfect if you love sporty glasses and do not want to give up the style for the sake of reading glasses.  They are perfect for the beach because they are salt water-resistant while simultaneously offering 100% UVA/UVB protection!

The middle-left picture is of a more stylish frame with an emphasis on fashion! UrbanSpecs R14940 has many different colors that feature different prints on the temples. I love the leopard print the best - very chic yet daring at the same time. The ultra-thin aspheric plastic lenses ensure great optical clarity.  So ladies, you too can look fashionable and still be able to read anything you wish!

The middle-right image features the ultra-light sunreader: Scojo Gel Sunreader.  They are made from TR90 memory plastic so they will fit any face and ensure comfort.  Each pair is impact and scratch-resistant so they make the perfect purse/pocket glasses with a slim, plastic hard case.

The bottom image is of the Maui Jim Ho okipa Sunreader (weird name right?).  Like the Makaha, it features a sport wrap frame with polarized lenses made for reading outdoors.

Reading glasses should be fun! These you can enjoy even in this sunny weather!
