{Celebrity Spotlight}: Miley Cyrus

While this article title from the Huffington Post is clearly borderline insulting to the singer, Miley Cyrus does rock these amazing Ray-Bans.

Miley Cyrus Ray-Bans

I love these frames! I am definitely a fan of the John Lennon-esque frames that many have attempted to pull off (including a successful rendition by Lady Gaga).  Pop culture aside, Cyrus rocks what is now her personal style: a little grudge, a little hipster but all over perfect.  Her chopped locks threw me for a loop when I saw them but I love how she picks a perfect pair of frames to go with her new do.

If you are looking for Miley’s fun hipster Lennon shades by Ray Ban, you can definitely find them at Eyesave.com.  Here’s a closer look:

They come in a variety of different lens and metal colors just in case you want to change up the style a little.  I’d go for a little bit of a darker tint for extra protection. I wonder if they have a polarized version…

And if you’re like me and wear glasses then you can get reading glasses, or “readers” as we like to call them, in a similar style.  You can get them in the sunglasses version or in regular reading glasses style.  While the colors are definitely more limited in the reader style, I am always down for the bolder black that they both come in. And with both of these styles under $20, who can resist?

All day we be reading!

Have you ever felt like you’ve lost your reading glasses or that you have multiple pairs and you can never find them when you need them? Well, now you are in luck.  Here, at Eyesave.com we’ve launched something new called Readers Of the Month.

Basically, every month you can get a new pair of readers and never have to look far for your reading glasses ever again.  And for those who can never find anything when they need it, like me, this service is perfect! Plus you’ll end up with lots of different styles and frame shapes for any look.  Essentially, this makes sure you that you have readers.

Here’s how it works:

And it comes in the mail so you never have to worry about losing your current pair because another one will be arriving shortly.  I love the fact that they come in every power and any style. It’s a surprise every month! And who doesn’t love surprises?

Post up a picture of you in your new readers! I’d love to feature you here!!

Aren’t these amazing? I’ve got to hand it to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.  Who knew that the once child-stars would end up being fabulous fashion designers? I love this collection of optical wear from the twins.  They have a newer take on the classic designs of glasses that we have all come to know.  They have a slight wayfarer shape but with a bit of flare.
The ones in the upper left hand corner of the image above are a slight cat eye with the gold detailing making them to die for.  The combination of the tortoise and the gold is a perfect mix of the traditional colors of glasses and the shape breaks tradition while keeping to that epic style of Elizabeth and James.
The fade frame in the third row creates an interesting look.  I love the two colors and love the fade.  It reminds me of the way wooden frames look around a window.  To be cliche, the eyes are the window to the soul.
I can’t wait to see more from these two talented designers!

Reading glasses come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. My favorite frames are the two toned ones Meryl Streep wore in The Devil Wears Prada.  The plastic frames make them perfect for any face and the light color almost seems to fade into Ms. Streep’s complexion yet stand out bold with the black frame-arms.  She’s fabulous in any right.

For those of us who love to stand out a little more:

These Saint-German Tortoise+Green by Gabriel + Simone make a bold statement by combining the tortoise and a bright green that make reading glasses fashionable and chic.  Plus they’re super durable so they are perfect to throw in your purse before you walk out the door.

Hugh Jackman takes my breath away in those sexy readers.  His readers remind me of these:

The bold black frame creates definition on the face that enhances rather than distracts.  Unlike bold colors, black makes that perfect distinction between extravagant and perfectly styled.  Of course, I am partial to the black frames (see bottom picture of Simon Baker). Featured directly above are the Gabriel + Simone Reading Glasses - Saint-Germain Black.

Who doesn’t love Sarah Palin? Or rather Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.  Tina Fey is much better in my opinion.  I love her reading glasses.  They are the perfect shade of tortoise and the shape just fits her face.  There’s no contest as to her being one of the funniest women on television. I found some neat readers that are similar to hers:

These are the 718-Tortoise Flexi-Light from Calabria.  Flexi means they’re super flexible which also means they can get a little crushed in case you forget them in your bag…I’ve done that before. They’re also light so they won’t feel heavy on your face when you forget to take them off.

{Fashion Trend} The Minimalist

With every season comes new trends in fashion.  The minimalist idea stems from art with artworks such as Piet Mondrian and Bauhaus.

Above is Composition with Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, and Gray by Mondrian.  His use of bold color reflects the trends for sunglasses as well as the thick lines that clearly define glasses. Spy Optics uses the minimalist trend as the stepping stone for their design.  The Spy Optics Lennox style frame (featured below) creates the thick bold lines with the overly simplistic design.

For those looking for a bit more flare with this minimalist trend, you can try these!

Featured above is the Kate Spade Bri/S with the pink detail.  The chic black frame is accented by the small detail on the temple as well as the bold pink color on the inside of the frame.  Pink and black is usually chic and perfect for supporting breast cancer since that is always a hot topic.

Minimalism is perfect for the simple chic fashionista! Try out any bold, simple frame even in reading glasses!

RED! Love the color! It’s bold and strong.  Featured above is the Calabria Readers Reading Glasses 736 in red and white.  The two-color frame makes the perfect step in the minimalist trend.

{Did You Know?} Is the Print getting smaller?

At times we wish the newspaper would come with a zoom button or that we had a magnifying glass to carefully examine the detail of a printed work.  Everyday we get older; unfortunately, it’s a fact of life.  We try to escape by using hair dye or anti-aging cream, but there’s one place that you can’t stop the aging: your eyes! Your eyes age. Luckily, there’re ways to deal. So here’s just one solution for the print that seems to just get smaller and smaller: reading glasses!

Readers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes from full frame to half frame.  They can be easily stowed and hidden away.  Eyesave’s got a bunch that are fashionable and sleek.

These, above, are from Clic Readers.  They come in all sorts of colors; the color featured is Blue Steel.  With its patented magnetic closure, these frames can separate at the nose bridge making them perfect for anyone who thinks they might lose their reading glasses.  The magnetic closure allows you to keep them around your neck so they won’t get lost when you take them off. Plus magnets are fun! If you are dealing with young children who just like to grab at things, you can be sure they will grab your reading glasses.  So, these would be perfect in case they get knocked off your face.

These from Able Vision are the BPR36 Tube Gunmetal which come with a tube case.  These frames are sleek, lightweight, and ultra-thin.  They come in a variety of colors and are great if you are an on-the-go person.  They can fit right in your pocket or purse without taking up too much space.  These frames specifically are perfect for that day at the office or anytime that requires a more professional look.

These are only just a few you can get.  There’re lots of different shapes and some that are even smaller! Just check them out at Eyesave.com!

{Did You Know?} Sport Sunglasses are so-o useful!

Safety is always important, especially when it comes to your eyes. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Mark Kotsay knows exactly what that means.  He always wears sunglasses during games to protect his eyes from the sun’s harmful rays and also to keep the glare away when looking straight up at the sun trying to catch a baseball.  More specifically, Kotsay has blue eyes making him more susceptible to glare.  The reduced sensitivity to contrast for those who have lighter colored eyes makes it harder for them to differentiate things in bright light.  Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton found that his light colored eyes affects his batting average when he plays in day games in contrast to when he plays in night games.

Sports sunglasses have so many uses because they protect your eyes and provide the maximum glare reduction.  They come in many different designs so you don’t have to keep the more traditional sport wrap-around style. They can be made of plastic or metal; it is all up to you to decide what kind of sport style sunglasses you want.

If you do play baseball or any outdoor sport, it may be best to go with a wrap style or something that is sure to stay put during activity.

This is the NYX Golf Sunglasses-Arrow. These frames are made from lightweight nylon with Bi-Radical lenses to reduce the bubble effect that is usually seen in wrap style sunglasses.

Above is the Smith Optics Parallel. This semi-rimless frame features non-slip nose and temple pads for complete comfort and stability when it comes to active-wear.

This is the Nike Skylon Ace Swift, a semi-rimless frame with rubber nose pads that ventilate making this a perfect style to wear outdoors. The lenses are scratch/impact-resistant which ensures great durability and longevity in terms of wear.

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about those who need reading glasses!!! You too can read outdoors on the beach or out camping, wherever and whenever you please!

These are pretty sweet, right? The bi-focal lenses allow for reading or not (!) - wear them as sunglasses and the bifocals won’t interfere! The wrap frame is perfect for those looking for a traditional sport style frame.

Besides a wrap style frame, sport sunglasses can also come in more fashionable styles with the same protection and glare protection.  Like these:

The 2747/S from Persol is the perfect combination of sport and fashion.  The polarized lenses feature glare protection while simultaneously providing 100% UVA/UVB protection.

Maui Jim is known for their variety of sports sunglasses that feature ultimate protection from the sun as well as glare. Below is the Backyards by Maui Jim that have a super light-weight and durable rimless frame. These frames can be worn in salt water so they are perfect for a beach get-a-way or any boating activity.

For all those light-eye people out there, protect your eyes! They are important!
